Jim's Opinion:  When your company's business is strong, that is the optimum time to develop new products, develop new customers, and penetrate new markets...establish new contacts to add to your network. If you wait until the business climate is weak and your company is struggling, it is probably too late to recover. Extend your network of contacts continuously...in business and in life, you can never have too many friends. At the end of the day, it will always be, not how much you know, but who you know...what and who they know, and what they think you know.

Try to stay ahead of the curve and innovate as you go. By doing so, you can reap continuous benefits.
