Background:
U.S. Air Force LtCol, Retired. After graduating from Ohio State with a BA in Latin American Studies in 1966, he joined the Air Force as a Telecommunications Officer. Active duty assignments included California, Nebraska, Mississippi, New York and Spain, where he was Commander of two installations. While on active duty, he earned a MS in Management from the University of Arkansas. Following active duty, he was Commander of a Michigan ANG unit and finished his career as a Reservist at Headquarters, USAF in the Pentagon in Washington DC.
IBM, Manager, Apparel Segment, Retired. Mike joined the IBM General Systems Division in 1978, and headed the small systems marketing team on the Ford Motor Company account in Detroit. He was promoted to Atlanta in 1983 to create the IBM Multiples Marketing Program. He held various staff positions across Atlanta finishing his career in Retail Industry Marketing. He retired from IBM in 1992.
Manhattan Associates. Mike helped launch the software company Manhattan Associates which went on to become a major player in the industry of "quick response", replenishment and warehouse automation.
AAPN - Mike joined the AAPN in 1995. In 1998, he changed the name of the organization from the American Apparel Contractors Association to the present name, the American Apparel Producers' Network. In 2001, he led the project to open membership to apparel producers in the Western Hemipshere and eventually globally. This led to increased membership not just in offshore producers, but suppliers of yarn and fabric at one end of the chain and executives from brands and retailers at the other end of the chain. Today, the AAPN is the only global supply chain organization in the world.
